On this day I was in bad shape!
December 2nd of 2012 I was rushed to the emergency room believing I had a serious case of food poisoning. Well, it turned out to be a burst Appendix with serious consequences on my body. I was rushed into surgery, and following that received many hours of medical intervention. Unfortunately that was not enough as the toxins in my body were destroying everything they touched!
I went back under the knife for a second surgery, and 4 hours later after cleaning out the toxic poison, removal of part of my colon, and over 8 inches of small intestine, I was back in recovery with many more hours of medical care (If you want to see more pictures check out my FACEBOOK link up top! ) For the next 5 days I was fed through my neck intravenously so my digestive system and insides would be able to heal. I was released on December 14th and on my way to a full recovery.

Following the DR's orders of not lifting more than 10-lbs would be a difficult task with multiple staples and many stitches in my stomach, plus having 2 young children and living on a third floor. This prompted a search for the best path to achieve a fast and effective recovery. Although what I discovered was not a total surprise, I learned a few keys to a healthier lifestyle that we will talk more about later. Here is a quick look at 3 keys to a healthier lifestyle related to diet:
- What goes in must come out
- Your only as good as the food you eat
- Quality over quantity
Another key to a healthier lifestyle is related to the dilemma of today's fast-food society. I also discovered that high quality supplements are a necessity - most of us just do not have time to eat the perfect selection of foods each and every day. Utilizing high quality supplements including vitamines, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants (to name a few) is very important.
The final key to mention is exercise; I discovered that by eating right, using high quality supplements, and following a well thought out exercise regimen is a formula for a healthy lifestyle. The good news is that with proper guidance it is not hard to achieve your health and fitness goals.
